What is MIG Welding?
Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) or wire welding, is an arc welding process that joins two pieces of metal using a consumable wire electrode. The wire is continuously fed through a welding gun, creating an arc that melts the base metal and the wire, forming the weld. A shielding gas is also fed through the torch to protect the weld from contaminants.
MIG welding is popular due to its speed, ease of use, and efficiency, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced welders. Whether for a small MIG welder machine or an industrial MIG welder, the core principles of MIG welding have remained consistent since its invention in the early twentieth century.
